Ather Energy used its third Community Day not only to unveil the new EL platform but also to pull the covers off a striking concept called "Redux". Unlike the production-focused and family friendly EL01 concept, the Redux is what Ather likes to call a moto-scooter. Here is everything there is to know about it.

    1. Ather Redux has flexible ergonomics
    2. The Redux isn’t set for production

It is a performance oriented concept that uses AmplyTex for the bodywork

The company describes Redux as a “moto-scooter” that blends the agility of a scooter with the dynamics of a motorcycle. Built on a lightweight aluminium frame, the concept uses a 3D-printed lattice mesh seat and bodywork made from AmplyTex, a material Ather claims is durable and sustainable. The experimental design, with its exposed elements, reflects what Ather calls an “inside-out” approach intended to make the vehicle feel like a more direct extension of the rider.

Where Redux stands apart from today’s electric scooters is in its adaptability. The company says it has been engineered with adaptive ride dynamics, altering behaviour depending on riding conditions, and features “posture-based transformation”, allowing it to alter ergonomics and switch between an upright scooter stance and a sportier motorcycle-like position. In terms of tech, it gets a new interface called Morph-UI that changes its layout according to the riding mode, putting different sets of information front and centre.

In terms of performance, Ather has added a mode called “Take Off” to showcase the kind of rapid acceleration possible with future electric drivetrains, though no actual figures were released. For now, Redux is strictly a concept and not planned for production. Ather says the prototype is a collection of experiments, both mechanical and digital, intended to explore new ideas in responsiveness, adaptability and rider engagement. It serves as a contrast to the EL platform and EL01, which are focused on scalable mass-market products.
