Citroen India has announced a partnership with JK Tyre for the 28th edition of the National Racing Championship (JKNRC). Citroen will supply the championship with the Basalt coupe-SUV for safety car and medical car duties.

    1. Citroen is the official car partner for the JKNRC
    2. Citroen has motorsport history in WRC and Paris-Dakar Rally

Apart from race support duties, Citroen says its cars will be used for choreographed stunt and drift performances. This will be the brand’s entry into motorsport in India, but Citroen is not a complete stranger in this field. Globally, it has participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally and even won several drivers’ and manufacturers’ titles at the World Rally Championship (WRC).

This could serve as a boost to Citroen’s operations in India. The French carmaker has been struggling with sales and awareness in our market, and its sparse footprint has further impacted its visibility. The brand now has an opportunity to reach out to a niche audience. Fan-engagement activities can further help make an impression.

Citroen has also recently accelerated its activities around its models, launching a new top-spec C3 Shine trim with additional features and commencing bookings for the upcoming Basalt X.

    2025 JKNRC details

The 2025 JK Tyre Racing Championship began on August 8 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore and, after three rounds, will culminate with the grand finale on November 14-16, 2025, at the same venue. There are four categories under the championship – LGB F4, Novice Cup, Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup, and the new single-seater Levitas series featuring race-prepped Maruti Ignis cars.
