Maruti Suzuki e Vitara exports to Europe begin from Gujarat plant

    Electric SUV is only manufactured at the carmaker's Hansalpur facility.

    Maruti Suzuki shipped over 2,900 e Vitara units – exclusively built at its Hansalpur factory in Gujarat – to 12 European countries in August. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off production of the made-in-India electric SUV, who said that the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) will be exported to over 100 nations from the facility. The same plant will also manufacture for our domestic market.

    3. These include the Grand Vitara, Fronx, Jimny and Ertiga

    The first-ever Maruti Suzuki e Vitara shipments were sent from the state's Pipapav port, destined for the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland and Belgium. The brand already exports 17 other cars to around 100 countries, including to Suzuki's home nation, Japan.

    According to Maruti chairman R C Bhargava, between 50,000 and 1,00,000 e Vitaras will be exported every year. With a planned capacity of 1 million units (or 10,00,000), the Gujarat plant is going to become one of the world's largest automobile manufacturing hubs, said Suzuki Motor Corporation CO Toshihiro Suzuki. Currently, it can produce up to 7,50,000 vehicles annually across three production lines.

    The e Vitara had made its India debut at the 2025 Auto Expo, but its launch here has been delayed a couple of times. As of now, a specific launch date has not been announced. For reference, the international-spec e Vitara gets two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh – as well as front and all-wheel-drive layouts. The e Vitara FWD will be introduced here first; the AWD version will follow later. Maruti says the larger battery pack will offer an MIDC-rated range of over 500km. In terms of features, it may offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.1-inch driver's display, 18-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS.

    Maruti will set up fast chargers at dealerships in the top 100 cities, launch a charging app, and open over 1,500 EV service centres in more than 1,000 cities. The Maruti e Vitara price is expected to start at around Rs 20 lakh and climb up to Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom.
