    1. New Maruti SUV expected to get petrol, hybrid and CNG powertrain options
    2. It will have a more affordable positioning than the Grand Vitara
    3. This midsize Arena SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos

What to expect from new Maruti Arena midsize SUV?

The teaser just gives us a glimpse of the upcoming SUV’s tail-lamp, which has a boomerang-like shape and three segmented LED sections. However, spy shots of camouflaged prototypes seen earlier have hinted at a little more. It seems to have an e Vitara-inspired design, with a crossover-like stance. This new model will share its underpinnings with the Grand Vitara, but expect a completely different look from its Nexa sibling.

On the inside, the new Arena SUV is expected to carry over most of the equipment from the Grand Vitara, including the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a wireless charger, ambient lights, automatic AC, and more. However, the dashboard design could be slightly different.

New Maruti Arena midsize SUV powertrain options

Codenamed Y17, the upcoming SUV is expected to carry over all powertrain options from the Grand Vitara. So, it could be offered with the 103hp, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and 116hp strong-hybrid engine options, along with their respective gearboxes. A factory-fitted CNG kit is also expected to be part of the powertrain mix.

Think of the new Arena SUV’s positioning with respect to the Grand Vitara as similar to that of the Ertiga and XL6 or the Brezza and Fronx.

The Maruti Arena SUV will be positioned as a rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos. However, it will be slightly more affordable than the Grand Vitara, with ex-showroom prices likely ranging between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh.
