Suzuki has flagged a braking issue on the Gixxer 250 and 250 SF after it was found that some units were fitted with the wrong rear brake caliper assembly from the V-Strom SX.

    1. Suzuki V-Strom SX rear caliper mistakenly installed on Gixxer 250 duo
    2. Risk of uneven wear and reduced braking power over time

Suzuki has taken cognisance of this issue

This issue affects motorcycles produced between February 2022 and June 2025

The anomaly came to light when it was discovered that a rear brake caliper assembly meant for the V-Strom SX had made its way onto the Gixxer 250 and 250 SF motorcycles. While the bikes remain usable in the short term, the incorrect fitment causes the brake pads to press against the disc unevenly.

This means riders could see accelerated and irregular pad wear, and once the untouched areas of the pads begin to bite, braking efficiency will drop noticeably. Suzuki has acknowledged the issue and is expected to initiate a service campaign to swap the incorrect calipers with the right Gixxer 250 units.

A total of 5,145 units of the duo, manufactured between February 2022 and June 2025, were affected. Suzuki will carry out this inspection and replacement free of cost. Owners who have purchased their Gixxers during this time frame are advised to get their motorcycles inspected at the earliest to ensure braking performance isn’t compromised.
