The BYD Seal sedan was the Chinese EV maker’s third model for India. It was launched in 2024, and BYD India updated its all-electric sedan in April 2025. Currently available with two battery options, two drive layouts and a total of three variants, we answer the most important questions about the BYD Seal.

What is BYD Seal price in India?

BYD Seal’s price starts at Rs 41 lakh and tops out at Rs 53.15 lakh, ex-showroom, India.

As mentioned above, the Seal is on sale in three variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The Seal Dynamic (Rs 41 lakh) is the entry-level variant, and comes with a 61.44kWh battery pack that drives a rear axle-mounted 204hp electric motor. Both the mid-spec Premium and top-spec Performance variants use an 82.56kWh battery pack; the former has a 313hp rear motor, while the Seal Performance gets 218hp front and 313hp rear motors.

BYD claims a 0-100kph time of 7.5 seconds and 5.9 seconds for the Dynamic and Premium variants, respectively. The AWD Performance has a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.8 seconds, making it among the fastest accelerating cars on sale in India. For reference, the quickest mass market EV we have tested so far is the Tata Harrier EV AWD, which achieved a 0-100kph time of 6.74 seconds in our tests.

What is BYD Seal range?

Seal’s range is between 510km and 650km (NEDC).

The entry-level Seal Dynamic variant’s 61.44kWh battery pack has a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC)-rated range of 510km, while the top-spec Performance AWD is rated at 580km, thanks to the larger 82.56kWh battery. The Seal Premium has the longest range of the lot, with a 650km NEDC range. Usually, NEDC range figures are lower than our government’s Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) number, and higher than Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) figures.

BYD claims both battery packs can charge from 0-80 percent state of charge (SOC) in 45 minutes; the 61.44kWh unit can use 110kWh DC fast chargers, while the 82.56kWh units can be charged up to 150kW. A 7kW AC charger will take 12-16 hours to charge the batteries from 0-100 percent.

The Seal sedan is quite low to the ground, with an unladen ground clearance of 149mm for the Dynamic and Premium variant, and 145mm for the AWD Performance variant. Our BYD Seal review found that one does need to exercise caution over larger bumps on the road, and go sideways over big speed breakers.

While we have yet to test the Seal EV with BYD’s DiSus-C system, which softens or stiffens the suspension as required in real time, the sedan offers sports car-like handling and rock-solid high-speed stability. Rides is a little firm and it deals with ruts and potholes really well, albeit with a thunk thanks to those 19-inch wheels that are standard on the mid- and top-spec variants.

What are BYD Seal features?

Even entry-level Dynamic variant is well-equipped.

The BYD Seal’s features list is expansive and most kit is standard across the three variants. The only bit of kit that the entry-level Dynamic misses out on include the frequency-selective damped suspension set-up, electronic child lock, a heads-up display, torque vectoring, memory function for wing mirrors and leather upholstery; these are available on the mid-spec Premium and top-spec Performance variants. We’ve compiled all variant-wise BYD Seal features – for reference, some feature highlights include a Level 2 ADAS suite, 10 airbags, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control.

It should be noted that the rotating touchscreen is a highlight of the interior, as the high-resolution display has great responses, no matter the app. On the other hand, the AC controls are all buried in a sub-menu of this screen, which makes accessing them inconvenient.

Is BYD Seal interior comfortable?

The cabin boasts excellent quality and superb comfort.

The quality of materials used on the BYD Seal’s interior is impressive as there are plenty of leatherette surfaces, along with rich-feeling piano-black plastic and metallic trim. The switchgear also feels solidly built and BYD has used space cleverly; there’s an open space under the centre console, two big rubberised wireless phone chargers, and a deep covered storage bin.

The heated and ventilated front seats are large and comfortable, though lumbar support could have been better. Rear seat passengers won’t complain about legroom or headroom, though getting in and out can be a touch troubling for the elderly as one has to lower themselves under the roof and onto the bench. The 2025 Seal update also solved one of our complaints about the electric sedan – the now standard powered sunshade helps keep the cabin cool.
