VinFast India, the Vietnamese EV-only carmaker, will launch its first models in the country on September 6, 2025. The VinFast VF6 and VF7 are locally assembled models that roll out of the brand’s assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The first vehicle to be produced at the new factory was the VF7.

    1. VinFast VF6 expected to rival Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric
    2. VinFast VF7 expected to rival Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e

VinFast VF6 price estimate and specifications

VF6 likely to be priced around Rs 20 lakh-25 lakh (on-road)

Bookings for both e-SUVs commenced on July 15 for an amount of Rs 21,000. The smaller VinFast VF6 is expected to enter the competitive midsize EV segment, where the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Creta Electric contend. We expect prices for the VF6 – which gets a 59.6kWh battery powering a front axle-mounted 204hp motor – to be in the Rs 20 lakh-25 lakh region at launch. While no ARAI/MIDC range figure has been announced, the VF6’s 59.6kWh battery has a WLTP-rated range of 480km. Our VinFast VF 6 review has more details on what this e-SUV is like to drive and live with.

VinFast VF7 price estimate and specifications

VF7 likely to be priced in the Rs 25 lakh-30 lakh region (on-road)

The larger VinFast VF7 will see competition from the likes of the Mahindra XEV 9e and the Tata Harrier EV. Like the Tata, VinFast’s VF7 will be available in 2WD and 4WD forms; in either case, power comes from a 70.8kWh battery pack. In 2WD form, the VF7 has the same 204hp front motor as the VF6, though in AWD form, there’s a rear motor as well; combined output is 350hp and 500Nm. The WLTP range for the VF7 AWD is 431km, while the FWD version is rated at 450km.
